Did an oil drilling operation find commercial quantities of oil in Belize? That's what today's edition of the Belize Times reported.

The Times' headline claims that Belize Natural Energy Limited which has been drilling since June 3rd in the Spanish lookout area hit what the paper calls "a gusher" yesterday capable of producing 1,000 barrels of oil daily. But all that is in the wind, because 7NEWS has confirmed independently that, yes, they did find oil and gas yesterday but not in commercial quantity.

Experts say though that the discovery is a good indication that there may be more dolomite zones deeper that may contain commercial quantities of oil. A dolomite is a sedimentary rock. Samples of this dolomite have been sent to a lab in Houston for testing. After the core is taken out for testing, the drilling will continue.
