There is a standoff tonight in the tourism industry. It is between David Gegg’s Discovery Expeditions/Cruise Solutions and the Jaguar Paw Resort on the Western Highway. As of today, Jaguar Paw Resort refused to allow any of the tours by Cruise Solutions or Discovery Expeditions onto its property. So there was no cave tubing and no zip-line for cruise visitors who went on one of Gegg’s tour.
A Jaguar Paw spokesperson alleges that Discovery Expedition and Cruise Solutions combined owes them close to $700,000. They say they are operating at a loss since for more than a year Gegg has not paid them. And so yesterday they advised the company that they cannot bring any tourists for cave tubing or the zip-line. The cave tubing was however still opened for private tours.
But that is small compared to the 200 tourists which Cruise Solutions probably would have taken to Jaguar Paw today and 250 that would have gone there tomorrow. Jaguar Paw says the matter is in the hands of their attorneys. David Gegg was unavailable and other representatives of the company declined comment.
