The 2020-2021 sugar crop season is starting to wind down to a complete close.

The farmers and the millers have agreed to conclude this grinding season on July 27, 2021.

ASR/BSI notes that to date, the Tower Hill Factory has milled as much as 1.176 million metric tons of sugar cane. With that quantity, the mill was able to produce 120 thousand metric tons of sugar.

Despite the late start due to bad weather and the poor conditions of the sugar roads, this year's crop was a marked improvement over the 2019-2020 crop, which was decimated by severe drought. The millers are urging the government to ensure that the sugar roads and culverts are repaired before the start date of the next crop.
