BEL is going to be paying for the electricity it will produce and that money that BEL, instead of paying CFA, they'll be paying company, whatever the name it will have, and that money is going to be used to pay the loan."

And while it is made to seem simple enough, we can confirm that BEL - who is the power purchaser - was not consulted about the plant. As for the PUC, were they consulted? Well, they gave us a quote yesterday, saying, "GOB and the PUC continue to engage in meaningful discussions to fine tune plans to facilitate the new solar plant as part of ongoing efforts to diversify energy supply in Belize."
