Yesterday we told you about eb-buses coming soon to Belize City - well - today the guys who operate the regular two dollar diesel powered city buses sent out a press release.
That's City Shuttle Limited and they are calling out the UNDP and EU for facilitating what they call unfair competition in Belize, going against their mission of inclusion.
They say that, unlike other jurisdictions, the transportation industry in Belize is a 100% private sector and that they are in outright objection to the proposed EV bus Pilot which they say is creating unfair competition in Belize's private sector by facilitating the Pilot through the City.
But doing this, they say the UNDP and EU are directly responsible for the transfer of a critical portion of their revenues to the City and ultimately, the financial destruction of the vested stakeholders of the industry.
They urge a change of course and that the UNDP and EU should aspire to work directly with the stakeholders.
