Corona beer is in Belize and this time it's legal. While you can often find contraband Corona offered for sale on Facebook, 7news has confirmed that the company named Goliath Investment Company has legally imported 1,500 cases of the Mexican beer. It will be sold in 12 ounce bottles and came in through Guatemala on a permit granted by the Department of Supplies control. The duties on the imported beer will make it prohibitively priced - and will probably retail for about 8 dollars or more a bottle - and wholesale for about 144 dollars per case of 24. And, to discourage contraband, all bottles will have to say "Belize Market" which will be declared on a sticker.

Critics say the importation though will blur the lines between legal imports and contraband, opening the floodgates to contraband Corona.

The biggest brewery in Belize, Bowen and Bowen told us in a statement, "We are deeply disappointed by this decision, as allowing a case of legitimate imports creates an opportunity for thousands of illegal contraband cases, leaving Customs unable to differentiate between them. Bowen & Bowen has made significant investments in upgrading and overhauling our production lines to meet local demand importing Corona undermines the entire local industry, which has invested heavily in the country and provides jobs for thousands of Belizeans."
