Untitled Document All this years ago.it was only supposed to be temporary but the low-lying bridge connecting San Ignacio and Santa Elena will be replaced and upgraded.
The Ministry of Infrastructure Development & Housing announced today that it has entered into a contract with M&M Engineering Consultants to design and construct a replacement bridge structure.
Preliminary design concepts show that it will be a reinforced concrete bridge using pre-cast elements. It will accommodate a single traffic lane and have a dedicated space for pedestrians.
Construction is expected to take four months starting 17th March.
The bad news for town residents is that the site will be closed to all traffic when the work to remove the existing timber bridge begins.
