Tonight, April Parchue will be joined by another public officer in detention at the Queen Street station.

Police Constable #351 Brentford Longsworth is right now spending his 24th hour in lockdown at the Queen Street police station pending charges of extortion, handling stolen goods and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The charges arise after Constable Longsworth was allegedly caught in the act yesterday when he attempted to sell the gun for $800. The gun had been stolen from a businessman a week earlier and Constable Longsworth allegedly contacted the businessman telling them that he could recover it for a fee. That's when they called police and set up a sting where Longsworth would bring in the gun, receive the money, and then get arrested.

And that's just happened yesterday when officers from the Internal Affairs Department arrested Longsworth after he sold the gun to the son of the businessman. The $800 found on him matched serial numbers that police had noted.

Longsworth was detained yesterday afternoon and was expected to be charged for the indictable offence of extortion today but he will spend at least another 16 hours in lockdown as police prepare more charges.

Longsworth is a detective attached to the Hattieville CIB office and he has been in the department for 10 years.
