Jervis Valencia-Diamond will spend three years in jail for setting his girlfriend on fire.
In a fit of rage in February of 2003 the 20 year old had doused his girlfriend Sheldon Middleton with alcohol and lit a match. She suffered second and third degree burns to her face and upper body but Middleton lived to tell her tale and Jervis was charged with attempted murder and use of deadly means of harm.
It was a serious crime and Jervis was facing possible serious time if convicted but today in front of Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord, he pled down to the lesser charge of grievous harm. He was sentenced to three years in prison.
And while to some he may have gotten off easy for this crime, the 20 year old is hardly out of the woods as he is still facing murder charges for the New Year's Day torture of Gilbert "Snoop Dogg" Williams.
