It's finally finished; the court has ordered that Robert Hertular should be extradited to stand trial in the United States.
Months of legal wrangling came down to a judgement by Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord. In a lengthy and detailed judgement, he ordered that Hertular be taken to New York to be tried for conspiracy to import cocaine into the USA, distribution of cocaine in the USA, intimidating a law enforcement officer, and obstruction of justice.
Now procedure dictates that he will be held in custody for 15 days, in which time he may make further applications to the court. Now it's down to 15 days, and with a determined U.S. Department of Justice, it's unlikely that Hertular's attorneys can get out of a tight legal fix. And the Justice Department is very eager to get him, mainly because he threatened a United States drug enforcement officer.
