An accused murderer charged with viciously butchering his friend with a machete is on the run tonight. On Friday, Melvin Salazar was charged with murder for allegedly chopping his friend Ermindo Coc to death with a machete after a drinking binge Thursday morning. Salazar had his day in court on Friday and was remanded to the Hattieville prison. How did he escape? Well police say on Saturday afternoon he was being fed by a on-duty constable at the San Ignacio police station when Salazar "forced his way out of the cell and ran towards the river." The 23 year old murder suspect got clear out of the police station, jumped into the river and swam away. Salazar has not been seen since though police believe he still is in the Santa Elena area. Salazar is charged for chopping Coc to death early Thursday morning after an argument in the Barton Creek area near Georgeville. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of 23-year-old Melvin Salazar is asked to contact the nearest police station or call 922 hotline where there is a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.
