Police have ruled that the sudden death of a 3-year-old toddler in Orange Walk Town was murder and they say the child's 13-year-old uncle is responsible.
As we reported last night, 3-year-old Axcel Castillo died at the Orange Walk Hospital after his mother Maria Tiul took him there claiming he fell down the step. Baby Axcel died later that night and nurses and hospital personnel noticed bruises on her which gave fuel to speculation that it was more than just a fall. Suspicions were confirmed with a post mortem revealing ruptured organs sustained when the teenaged uncle allegedly beat the child. Our sources say that the uncle has a history of beating the child, but this time he went too far. We are further made to understand that on Saturday the 14 year old intentionally beat the child and knocked him on his mouth. Orange Walk police have charged the minor with murder and his older sister, the child's mother Maria Tiul has also been charged with child neglect. Tiul has two other children and is a Guatemalan. The accused 14-year-old minor is also a Guatemalan and both are undocumented they appear in court tomorrow.
