A man was killed on Saturday afternoon and police have charged his employer with murder. It would have been a normal day at work for 51-year-old Norman 'Butter' Ferguson but it turned deadly for him when for some reason not yet known his employer shot him in the chest. He stumbled out of his workplace and died on the sidewalk on Central American Boulevard. Now his family is asking the age-old question. Why?

Alfonso Noble Reporting,
51-year-old Norman "Butta" Ferguson was at work here at prime cut meats on Central American Boulevard sometime around midday on Saturday when he was shot. Family members are unclear as to why he was shot but one thing is for sure, he had given whole-hearted service to the proprietor of the meat shop who allegedly shot him.

Kendra Tucker, Victim's Niece
"On my way to my home, I met a friend of the family who told me my uncle got shot. I met him lying down on the ground, I went down, and I asked him who did this. But apparently he was dead already and I asked someone if it was a robbery or something and they said no. From that we get the understanding that he got shot in the meat shop by the people he worked for."

Now Tucker questions why the shooting occurred, and more so why it is that no assistance was given to Ferguson even after he had been shot.

Kendra Tucker,
"I asked myself the question, the family is asking, and the whole neighborhood is wondering what could be the cause for 'Butta' to get shot there and no one say nothing. Nobody has taken the interest to say nothing. Nobody from his or her family came to assist him out there. After this thing happened, the shooting, they just closed down their shutters, and that was it. I was asking out there why this happened. Why would he have gotten shot in there because at that moment I realized that no one from their family was out there which was strange. It was strange because my uncle worked for those people for quite some time. He would wake up early in the morning and go and tend to their business and during the day he washed their vehicle and was always around that family. So I was wondering why no one was out there to assist. I don't have no real answer to say what took place in there. It is just something that puzzles me to see that this happened to him and he was just lying out there with no assistance from anyone. I just heard people saying it is the boss of the meat shop so I asked the question why because many people out there are asking the same question. Why would he shoot 'Butta?' What 'Butta' could do that he would shoot him in the chest? He is someone who is always with that family. He is always with that family, from early in the morning until late at night. Everyone knows 'Butta' is always on their premises and that's the reason why the family is so upset, especially I one of the niece of for 'Butta', because I didn't know it would be the same people he was always around 24/7 that would have taken his life and leave him there to die like he was nothing. From my family, I will say they might have thought that he was nothing but that 'Butta' had a name. His name was Norman Casman Ferguson. He was the son of Elvira Young and Robert Ferguson. He was a father, he was a brother, and he was a uncle to many. If it was an accident and it was caused by someone that has a conscience, they would have assisted him. They would not have left him there, down there, to die without assistance. They would not have washed the blood from inside their place, pull down their shutters, and leave him out there. They make us as the family have to ask what really happened back there."

But while they are questioning what happened on Saturday afternoon that caused "Butta" to be killed, tucker rests assured that she will get her justice if not now someday.

Kendra Tucker,
"I pray that God gives justice, give justice to his life that was given to God from above to whoever took his life. God knows all. No one can hide nothing from God because God is the almighty, he knows everything. To some people he might have been nothing but to his family, he was a great man that we loved."

Police have charged Ferguson's employer and proprietor of Prime Cut Meats, 33-year-old Edward Reyes with murder. He appeared in court today and was remanded to Hattieville Prison.
