On Wednesday night at the time of the looting in downtown Belize City 21 year old Jermaine Hernandez was shot in the back of the head while he was riding his bicycle on King Street. After surviving for 4 and a half days with the bullet lodged in his head he died early this morning. After being taken off the respirator he showed signs of recovery but at about 1:40 this morning he died. Today his mother, Audrey Willis, was still questioning who it was that shot her son and why.

Audrey Willis, Mother
"I don't have any idea because I was at work. I still can't understand because when I was talking to him he was coming off the machine and I told him I would see him in the morning and not to give any trouble. He told me wouldn't give any trouble. He told me go home now and then come in the morning and we will talk. They called me 2 o'clock this morning and told me he died."

Alfonso Noble,
When he was talking to you what did he tell you about the incident?

Audrey Willis,
"Nothing. He said he didn't no shot him because he was riding on a bicycle and somebody said they only say him when he dropped, that's all."

Alfonso Noble,
So all of a sudden he was riding and he just fell?

Audrey Willis,
"That's when he got shot and the person for the bicycle, because it's a bike he borrowed from someone...I don't know nothing else."

Alfonso Noble,
Who do you believe is responsible? What does your heart tell you?

Audrey Willis,
"I don't know. I just say that whoever did it, God will give me justice."

Hernandez's body is at the KHMH awaiting a post mortem which more than likely will not be conducted until Wednesday.
