A gang of thieves might be preparing for a riotous party this weekend after a major liquor heist from Brodies on the Northern Highway. Sometime between 8 last night and 8 this morning, a burglar or burglars pried open a sheet of zinc at the rear of the building, and slipping in through the opening.
We don't know if it was a matter of preference or opportunity, but they focused on top shelf alcohol. They collected (4) cases of Heineken beer, (4) bottles of Raynal VSPO Brandy, (3) bottles of Kalula valued, (2) bottles of Grand Old Parr, (2) cases of Dewar's 12-year-old whisky, (1) case of Hennessy cognac, (6) bottles of Dewar's White Label Whisky, (20) bottles of Smirnoff Vodka, (1) case of Baileys, and (1) case of Canadian Club Whisky, all to a combined value of $7,057.50.
And while a players' party would be too obvious, police investigators expect that these top shelf liquors will be sold for a fraction of their value, or at least free zone prices on the street. They ask anyone who is offered the sale, to refuse and call in the vendor to 0-800-922-TIPS.
