Honduran Charged for Unlawful Carnal Knowledge

A 20-year-old Honduran national is in jail tonight for allegedly having sex with an underage girl last year. Today Kevin Sarminto was charged with unlawful carnal knowledge. The 13-year-old girl told police that in November of 2005, Sarminto had sex with her at his uncle's Plues Street residence. A doctor has confirmed the girl was carnally known. The prosecution objected to bail because Sarminto is a flight risk. He is not a Belizean and has no legal status in Belize. Magistrate Margaret Gabb McKenzie remanded Sarminto to jail until February 27th.
