And while there were violent crimes against persons, there were also two significant cases, one burglary and one robbery. The burglary occurred early on Sunday morning, just after midnight, a pair of thieves targeted the American Airlines office at the San Cas Plaza near the Belcan Roundabout.

54-year-old security guard Benito Gomez was on duty when he was accosted by two Hispanic men who were in military fatigues, and one of them carrying a small pistol. They ordered him into the security booth, and one of them held him there while the other smashed the glass for the American Airlines office. He carted off a metal deposit box measuring 4 feet high by 2 and half feet wide, which contained $16,218 in cash and $9,410 in checks and a laptop computer. They tied up Gomez with duct tape, tossed him into the back of a Toyota Tacoma pickup and drove off.

They left him up the road, and police found the pickup abandoned on Sunrise Avenue later on. Turns out that had been stolen from in front of the Fisheries Department earlier on.
