41-year-old Nicaraguan national Manuel Vellos was almost chopped to death this morning but he can't tell police who did it or why. Vellos told police that around 9:30 he was sleeping on a bed in an abandoned building at the corner of Partridge Street and the Western Highway when he was awakened by a machete attack. Vellos couldn't describe his attacker or explain a motive for the attack. Vellos is in the KHMH recovering and police are investigating.
