Since we introduced you to Baby Destiny on Monday night, the story of the newborn baby behind bars has touched some and infuriated others. Well tonight we are happy to report that Sabrina Eiley and her newborn baby are free tonight. The prison's parole board met today and while legally they couldn't release Destiny's mother Sabrina Eiley on parole, they did the next best thing.

Members of the board decided to take a collection and pay, out of their pockets, a portion of the fine that she owes. That put wheels in motion with the court, which agreed to extend the time for her fine, so that Sabrina Eiley could be released from jail immediately.

Only 7NEWS was at the Hattieville Prison when Marnett Westby and Alicia Bent from the Kolbe Foundation served Sabrina with a warrant of deliverance.

Sabrina Eiley,
"I feel happy. I feel happy because this is what I wanted. I didn't have my mom with me when I was young and I didn't want to give up my baby because of that and I will have my baby with me through everything and I just feel good."

Keith Swift,
Is this what you expected?

Sabrina Eiley,
"Not really, like I said I would have gotten my baby taken away."

Keith Swift,
You are a free man. What are you going to do now?

Sabrina Eiley,
"Right now I will call aunty and let them know I am getting released and start to prepare for my baby and get everything together, take her to clinic and everything."

Sabrina was in jail for drug possession, possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition. She was convicted in October of 2005, and fined a total of $21,500. Anyone wanting to help now can follow the lead of the parole board and contribute to the fine, most of which is still outstanding, and which she still has to pay or face incarceration, again.

And while she is now free, the child's father is still in jail for an unrelated crime.
