He was accused of ruthlessly stabbing a Chinese grocer to death in front of her son on June 4th of 2004 but 34-year-old Earl Bowden is a free man tonight. That is because today in the Supreme Court, Deputy DPP Cheryl Lynn Branker-Taitt entered a nolle prosequi against Bowden because their star witness, the victim's son, is no longer in the country. Bowden was then free to go.

He was accused of killing 52-year-old Cuihua Qu which occurred at 168 shopping center in Belama Phase two. Qu was killed when she tried to intervene in argument between Qu's son 27-year-old Wang Xuan and Earl Bowden. It was alleged that Bowden hit Xuan in the face with a bottle and then stabbed Qu in her chest with a knife.

And while Xuan isn't here to testify against his mom's accused killer, his statement to police could not be entered into evidence because the interpreter who translated it from mandarin to English also isn't in the country. Another witness who was at the scene was said to be less than cooperative with the prosecution.

Earl Bowden can still be rearrested for the murder.
