He is a police constable accused of murdering his 18 year old wife in 2004 and today 45 year old Jose Maria Zetina’s trial began in the Supreme Court. Prosecutor Tracy Sosa called three witnesses today. One of them was Constable Alfredo Chavarria who went to the scene at the couple’s home. He testified that Zetina told him that he had just beaten his girlfriend and that she was inside one of the rooms.
When PC Chavarria entered the room, found the teenager lying dead; she was face up in a pool of blood with a knife still lodged in her chest. Chavarria told the court that when he went back outside, Zetina told him he had stabbed her because she had provoked him. Chavarria said that Zetina later told him that he had killed his wife because he caught her with a next man.
Shortly before 4:00 this afternoon when the case was adjourned, PC Chavarria was being cross examined by Zetina’s defense attorney, Leo Bradley.
