A 19 year old sanitation worker will spend the next three years in jail for kissing and fondling a 12 year old girl. Francis Gonzalez was today convicted of aggravated assault. The girl told police that on September 28th of 2007, Gonzalez asked for a kiss on the cheek but he ended up fondling her upper body and then kissed her on the mouth. She claims, he told her this is what girlfriend and boyfriends do. The girl’s uncle walked in and he called the police. Gonzalez who was a friend of the family had apparently been having relations with the girl since he had given her money and a cell phone.
Gonzalez said nothing in his defense this morning but both the girl and her uncle testified against him. Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie gave him the maximum sentence, which is three years in prison.
