Today Orange Walk police confirmed the identity of the body of a man discovered on a farm in that district. He has been identified as Guatemalan national fifty year old Ventura Garcia.
The body which was discovered around eleven on Wednesday morning was clad only in a long blue jeans pants and was lying face down inside a pimento house where he had been residing and working as a caretaker on the farm situated in an area known as Golden Pond about two miles southeast of Carmelita village.
Police suspect that Ventura Garcia was murdered. He had a chop wound to the left side of the head and his left arm was severed. The weapon is believed to be a machete. Orange Walk police say they have been unable to ascertain why Ventura Garcia was killed and who committed the murder.
Because the body was badly decomposed, Chief Pathologist Dr. Mario Estradabran conducted the post mortem on site and the body was buried.
