After being on the run for several months, tonight fifty three year old West Street resident Anthony Myvette is behind bars at the central prison in Hattieville. The police were looking for Anthony Myvette better known as Chowa because he was wanted after an eight year old girl reported that he had sex with her at his house. Around eleven on Monday morning the police found their suspect at his residence number sixty two West Street. He was charged with one count of carnal knowledge and one count of dangerous harm.

This morning when the accused appeared before Magistrate Sharon Frazer, where he explained that he was innocent, claiming that the child was never in his company. Nevertheless Magistrate Frazer explained to him that because the matter is an indictable offence she could not accept any plea. According to court reports bail was also denied. One of the concerns presented by police prosecutor Sergeant Hector Rodriquez is that there is the possibility that the accused could interfere with the victim.

What’s notable is that it took nine months before the crime was reported to police. Sources tell 7NEWS that after the child was sexually molested and assaulted she was left traumatized and the child had to be hospitalized for a long period of time. She was discharged from the KHMH in November and that’s when her mother made the report about what had allegedly happened in February.

Anthony Myvette has been remanded until February twenty third.
