Commissioner Westby also made a bold and emphatic statement that law and order will and must be upheld. And that’s what was not at all present yesterday. As this remarkable footage provided by our friends at CTV-3 shows – a Ministry of Works vehicle was set on fire by a mob.

The official police report states that at 4:00pm Trejo, a 43 year old driver for the Ministry of Works reported that he was driving a brand new Isuzu Dmax pickup and was parked 250 yards from the roundabout on San Estevan Road, sitting with his side man when he saw a group of people that had blocked off the road advancing towards him with sticks and stones. When the crowd reached the pickup they opened the door and pulled both of them out and one of the men punched him. Both men managed to escape and informed the police, but when they arrived at the scene the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Police have detained a number of suspects pending investigation.

And yes it was one of the ten new Dmax pickups which was received by the ministry on January 27th.
