Police have arrested and charged three persons, two of them teenagers, for Friday afternoon’s robbery, torture, and murder of Chinese businessman Tsong Ming Liou. They are 23 year old Joel Palma along with 17 year old Jonathon Suazo and 17 year old Oscar Maldonado. All three were jointly charged for murder.
As we reported on Friday afternoon around 2, the 59 year old was inside the office of his business – the Bachelor Inn Hotel on Bachelor’s Avenue in the West Landivar area when four men entered and indicated that they wanted to rent a room. Liou allowed them into his office and that’s when they turned on him. One of the men pulled out a knife and stabbed Liou in his neck, chest, and back. His throat was also cut and there is evidence he might have been tortured.
Tsong Ling Liou died in a pool of his own blood on the third floor of the hotel. The men fled but didn’t get far as a quick response by police led them to two suspects found hiding in the area.
Today a total of three suspects were formally arraigned in front of Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie for the charge of murder and remanded to prison until March 17th. They were represented in court by Dickie Bradley. Police are seeking a fourth suspect named Andrew Conorquie.
