He was charged with aggravated assault for hitting Lincoln Lewis with a gun. And a month ago – the charges were dropped and the Chief Magistrate told him he was free to go – but tonight Ignacio Villanueva is back in jail for the same charge. That’s right – one month after the charge was dropped – Villanueva appeared in front of Magistrate Albert Hoare. He told Hoare had already been cleared of the charge since on March 27th in court – the complainant Lincoln Lewis told the Chief Magistrate he wanted the charges dropped.

But there was little Magistrate Hoare could do. Because the offense involved a firearm, bail was denied and Villanueva was remanded to the Hattieville Prison until Monday when the matter can be cleared up. The incident occurred on February 27th which is when Lincoln Lewis says he was standing on East Canal when Villanueva snuck up behind him and hit him in the head with a gun. Lewis required hospitalization.

One more twist in the story is that Lewis’ nephew Eric Savery was recently charged for assaulting – you guessed it – Ignacio Villanueva Jr.
