26 year old Allen James was accused of the June 2007 armed robbery of Sen Sen Store on Daly Street and then shooting at the store’s security guard, and hitting an innocent bystander, but today he walked out of court cleared of the shooting charge. A jury of 8 women and one man who had deliberated for almost four hours emerged with a verdict of guilty on the charge of robbery and not guilty on the charge of the attempted murder or security guard Clifford Guy. The man who had been charged as his accomplice, Marvin Ottley was cleared of all charges yesterday when the DPP made a no case submission after the only witness against him, failed to show up to testify.
On June 21, 2007, two men stormed into Sen-Sen, one of them took away the security guard’s gun and stole $1,100 from the cash drawer. As they dashed out, they came under fire from the Security Guard at the adjoining business. The thieves returned fire and that’s when bystander Kimberly Marin got shot in the chest area. They were charged for grievous harm for shooting her, but that charge was dropped when the trial began.
Allen James faces a minimum of 7 years in jail for the robbery conviction.
