Detective Corporal Samuel Bonilla has been vindicated. He was placed on interdiction in March of last year when he and two other police officers conducted a raid at a home of a well connected person in King’s Park. The home owner accused the officers of stealing $500 from him but more serious than that – he claimed that they attempted to extort money from him.

A police tribunal acquitted all three officers of the theft charge but inexplicably Bonilla was still ordered to pay the homeowner one thousand dollars in compensation. He was also fined $200 for prejudice to good order and discipline.

He appealed to the Security Services Commission and documents shown to us indicate that they have exonerated Bonilla of all charges and additionally have ordered that he be reimbursed for the salary withheld during his suspension and the fines and compensation he paid. Thing is, even with that clear directive – our information suggests that the Police Department has not done anything yet.
