It made headlines in April when Senior Customs Officer Floyd Blondie Robinson was charged for aggravated assault for allegedly pushing a pistol into the chest of Viladia Riverol. It was news because the aggravated assault allegedly happened in the line of duty, while Robinson was taking part in a search of the home of Corozal resident Vidalia Riverol. Since then, he’s returned to active duty – innocent until proven guilty - but the criminal charge stood...until today.

Today in Corozal Magistrate’s Court, the case against Robinson thrown out. Turns out that no identification parade was held and Robinson’s attorney Ellis Arnold made a no case submission on that basis arguing that there was not even a clear indication that he was at the scene. Magistrate Leslie Hamilton agreed and Robinson was acquitted. Arnold told us today that there was nothing to link Robinson to the crime. The police prosecutor confirmed to us that no ID parade had been conducted.
