Details are sketchy but there is a compelling story about a chopping incident around 10 this morning. We understand it occurred on Kelly Street but how the drama unfolded may have some in police senior high command tonight scratching their heads.

It came into our news room as a burglary report where a thief was caught inside a house on Kelly Street. That suspect has been identified as one Tyrone Green – who apparently was caught in the act by an angry homeowner and chopped in the head. He was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and, as is standard, while being treated for the injury Tyrone Green was under police guard.

KHMH authorities would not talk to us about what unfolded next but 7News has been reliably informed that at one point after Tyrone Green was placed in the emergency room he reportedly left his bed to use the bathroom. It is not clear if the cop accompanied the burglary suspect but when he failed to come out of the restroom and a check was made that is when they discovered that the injured Tyrone Green had managed to escape from his police guard by jumping through the window of the KHMH’s emergency room’s bathroom.

We called several times to Patrol Branch that is handling the case to find out if Tyrone Green was recaptured but had no luck. Police could not even provide us with details as to what happened this morning that led to the arrest of Tyrone Green or who delivered the chop to his head.

7News does know however that since his daring escape from police custody through the bathroom window at the KHMH he has not been the hospital; which leads us to believe that Tyrone Green is still at large tonight.
