12 days ago on Christmas Eve, 21 year old Keon Swasey was killed in the Hattieville Prison. It happened around nine in the morning when Swasey, who was on remand, was stabbed with a prison knife known as a “bora.” It happened while Swasey was on the phone. Krismar Espinosa was also using the phone and attacked him. Espinosa allegedly stabbed Swasey twice to the midsection.
This morning, 19 year old Espinosa, who is already facing one murder charge, was charged for the second killing this afternoon in Magistrate’s Court Number One. No plea was taken and he was placed on remand – additional to the one he is currently on for murder.
Espinosa was already in prison pending trial for an especially vicious murder in September of 2007 in Orange Walk where he allegedly smashed a woman’s skull with a cement brick. He was charged for that killing when he was only 17. That killing was briefly connected to another Orange Walk woman killing with the same m-o but no additional charges were brought against Espinosa.
On the week of his murder, Swasey was on trial for three counts of aggravated assault and firearm and ammo charges.
