“With friends like these who needs enemies?” That’s what might be going through the mind of a mechanic whose right thumb was chopped off by one of his own buddies following a vicious attack in the north which police investigators believe was the result of a drunken brawl.
The victim, twenty nine year old Dorian Montalvo, a resident of San Roman Village in the Corozal District identified the attacker as one Eusebio Campos who he says was armed with a machete. Reports are that around nine on Sunday night Dorian Montalvo and Eusebio Campos were drinking with a group of friends when both men started to argue. Montalvo told police that it was during the heated exchange that Campos took the machete and chopped off his right thumb and also inflicted a cut wound to the right side of his back.
Dorian Montalvo was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital where he remains hospitalized in a stable condition. As for Eusebio Campos? Well, he was taken into police custody and charged with maim.
