The Police Department today confirmed to 7News that they are investigating a criminal complaint against cardiologist Dr. John Gough. The complaint was made by the father of 16 year old Carlos Zelaya Junior. Carlos Zelaya Senior is alleging that his son – a third form student at Saint John’s College was attacked by the prominent cardiologist on Monday February 15th. More than ten days later, Carlos Zelaya Senior says his son is still battered and bruised – unable to properly see or attend school. Carlos Zelaya Senior today told us what his son told him.
Carlos Zelaya Sr., Father of Assault Victim
“He was like seven to eight blocks away from Dr. John Gough’s residence and Dr. John Gough pulled up besides him with his car and immediately the both of them came out and started attacking him. The eyewitness says he

saw it. He says lucky he was around because if he wasn’t around seeing the action then probably they would have killed the child. The kid was screaming for help.”
Keith Swift,
“How is your son doing now?”
Carlos Zelaya Sr.,
“Very bad, he has problems with his eyes and he has a whiplash or a fracture where he fell back. His knees are all scraped up. He is not doing well.
What is going on with the police, that is my main thing. Is it because Dr. John Gough’s brother is politically connected? Is that why they are not filing a charge against these two individuals, Dr. John Gough and his neighbour? I hope that we get answers and the police pursue what they have to do.
I need the authorities to act on this as soon as possible. I need the DPP to intervene in this, find out what is going on. Up to this moment I have gotten no answers.”
We were unable to reach Dr. John Gough who is out of the country. And as for the motivation for the attack, reports are that Carlos Junior was visiting the doctor’s daughter and dashed away when he got home. Carlos Zelaya Senior says the two teenagers are friends and have been so for years. Police Press Officer ASP Bart Jones was unable to tell us the status of the complaint, on other than that it is being investigated.
