A man who was shot in Corozal Town on Tuesday morning is tonight is showing slow signs of recovery while the man who shot him is in jail. Police report that Omar Vellos was at Bun’s Car Wash around 8:30 on Tuesday when he was approached by Donovan Franzua. The two had a previous misunderstanding and police say Franzua pulled out a gun and shot Vellos three times. Vellos was hit twice in his back. He is tonight in the intensive care unit at the Healthcare Partners Hospital. That is a big improvement because he was initially paralyzed from the chest down. Doctors say he is slowly improving.
The man who allegedly shot Vellos, Donovan Franzua is in jail. He was arraigned yesterday in the Corozal Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempted murder, dangerous harm, and use of deadly means of harm. He was remanded to prison until April 8th.
