A man was murdered last Friday morning at 11:00 in the Port Loyola area – and today, again, at 11:00, gunshots rang out in that community. And again it was fatal. This time the victim was a teenager.

The shooting happened just behind St. John Vianney Primary School, in the Port Loyola Area, while classes for primary school students were in progress.

Police report that the 19-year-old victim, Michael ‘Warrior' Young, was walking on Monroe Street in the Boots Crescent area when he was shot in both the left leg and back by an unknown assailant. Police say Young's assailant is said to have emerged from an empty lot wearing a white rag over his face and dressed in a gray polo shirt and black short pants. He opened up with a spray of gunfire. This morning, the police forensic team processed the scene where we counted close to ten markings for bullet casings.

The distraught sister of the victim did not want to comment on the incident. Police say they have no suspects so far, and are continuing their investigation into the shooting.
