Twenty one year old Miguel Miranda, Jr., a mason of Trial Farm who allegedly had sex with a thirteen year old female student who is now thirty two weeks pregnant, was charged with two counts of carnal knowledge and one count of grievous harm when he appeared today in the Number Three Magistrate's Court.
No plea was taken from him because the offences are indictable. Bail was also denied. Magistrate Kathleen Lewis remanded him into custody until June 22nd. The first incident occurred on September 27th, 2009 at Rancho Dolores. The girl reported to the police that she was using the bathroom at her home when Miranda came in and had sex with her. She said that her parents were at a neighbor's house at the time. The second incident occurred sometime in October 2009. The girl reported to the police that she was walking on her way to school when she met Miranda and who told her to go off the main road into a bushy area where he again raped her. On Tuesday, May 18th, the girl was examined by a doctor who certified that she was thirty two weeks pregnant and classified the injury to her as grievous harm.
