Last Thursday we brought you the story of thirty five year old Jeffrey Roches who was gunned down, just as he left home to go to work. Roches is said to have been riding his bicycle on Basra street heading to Euphrates when two gunmen opened fire on him and left him to die. Like most shootings, this one would have likely gone into the cold case files, except, it was captured on video as it happened. Seven News has the footage raw and uncut, and Monica Bodden narrates how the gruesome assault unfolded.

Monica Bodden Reporting
About just a few minutes after 7 O' clock Jeffrey Roches left his Plues Street home and turn onto Basra Street on his bicycle headed for work. But just around the corner from his home a gun man ran him down from behind and shot him in the back of his head. Roaches fell to the ground and is barefooted try to finish him off but his gun jammed, that's when another gunman ran up and open fire shooting him 2 more times. The first gun man had cleared his weapon and then shot him once more. They ran off in the direction of East Canal. 4 shots in the head and chest area at point blank range. A scenario that played out in 17 seconds. He laid there motionless but miraculously alive. He would lie on the street 2 more minutes until a police and BDF patrol came up, notable they did not check him for a pulse but seem to be securing the area. One minute later someone call his wife Carolyn Bowen who lives around the corner and she came try to quill her husband and then she fainted; collapse onto the street.

While another woman try to resuscitate her, another team of police came and they too did not check for a pulse initially but seem to be looking for an ID. And while he looks dead on the street, this man survived against all odds.

Carolyn Bowen, Common-law-wife

"A lot of people get gunshot and they die, but I ask for prayers to help save his life. He talk to me, he have life right there and he is fighting."

The police still have not made any formal arrests of Roches' attackers, and late word is that Roches is still listed in a critical condition.
