Twenty three year old police constable Derrick Gideon, on bail for a charge of kidnapping, appeared today in court on charges of posession of a false document, uttering a forged document and attempting to obtain property by deception. The magistrate explained to the police constable that no plea was to be taken on those charges, which were indictable. The prosecution objected to bail on the ground that Gideon violated the condition of his bail of $12,000.00 when he was charged with the three offences. The magistrate upheld the objection and remanded Gideon into custody until December 31st. The allegation is that between November 4th and November 5th, Gideon forged a Belize Police Department employment letter and attempted to get a loan of $2,000.000 from Heritage Bank.
