The man who brutally murdered 45 year old Dorla Pitterson Slusher was given no mercy today by the courts.
32 year old Orlando Wade was given a sentence of life imprisonment. Justice Adolph Lucas heard pleas for mitigation made by Wade's sister and his mother on Friday, January 21st. Wade's sentencing which was scheduled for last Friday was delayed until today, so his Attorney, Kevin Arthurs could make a submission for leniency.
Arthurs had requested the court take into consideration that his client had no previous conviction, a request Justice Lucas rejected today.
Pitterson Slusher, a mentally challenged woman, was killed on June 23rd, 2008. Her nude body was found in an abandoned latrine behind Sylvia's Cool Spot in Sandhill Village. A post mortem examination revealed that she had been raped and died from Asphyxia due to strangulation with a rope that was tied around her neck.
