Twenty two year old city resident Ronald Michael is in jail tonight after being charged with handling stolen goods for a flat screen television stolen from The View Restaurant.
Michael pleaded guilty to the charge. Magistrate Emmerson Banner fined him one thousand dollars and ordered him to pay forthwith.
Michael was unable to come up with the money so he will serve one year.
Michael will also serve 3 years for nonpayment of a pending fine of ten thousand dollars for drug trafficking. Police charged Michael with handling stolen goods after they went to his house at 31 Lovely Lane on Wednesday, January 26 and recovered a 42 inch flat screen television that was stolen during the burglary of The View Restaurant, located on Newtown Barracks.
Thirty-nine year old Evan Tillett, the owner of the restaurant, reported to the police that the burglary occurred between January 24 and January 25, and apart from the television the culprit stole a desktop computer, an ipod and sixty three dollars.
