An argument this evening between two females who are in-laws almost turned deadly. Tasha Lopez is tonight detained by police after stabbing her common-law-husband's - cousin- 23 year old Elizabeth Martinez- to the left side of her chest. It happened around 4 o'clock this evening at their family's yard on Aloe Vera Street. 7 news caught up with Martinez's mother at the hospital. She asked us not to disclose her identity - but told us what happened:…
Joyce Mc Nab - Mother
"Then I saw my daughter with blood gushing from her."
Monica Bodden
"From where?"
Joyce Mc Nab - Mother
"From the left side."
Monica Bodden
"Of her chest?"
Joyce Mc Nab - Mother
"Yes ma'am and when the doctor was finish with her and everything I went in and I talk to her and she said from the time the baby is there with them the girl starts to quarrel and tell her words."
Martinez told her mother - the argument started over her cousin's baby - who is the child of Lopez's common-law-husband.
Joyce Mc Nab - Mother
"Elizabeth said that the young lady is calling the baby in a rage and she is beating the baby and cursing the baby. She told her that she doesn't have to be like that with the baby because nobody will eat or do anything to the baby. She replied that she is not afraid of nobody and she call Elizabeth a "bitch" and she (Elizabeth) said that she pick up a padlock and throw it at her but it only got her bag. Elizabeth said that she told her to come, so she went up into her and that was when the blows start. But Elizabeth didn't know that the girl had a knife in her bag. Elizabeth only hears when she (the girl) tell someone to hold her bag. Elizabeth said that the young lady didn't hold her bag and it was then that she felt the thing...."
Monica Bodden
"Who throw the padlock, Elizabeth?"
Joyce Mc Nab - Mother
"Yes ma'am. The way how I am right now, I can't say on camera."
Monica Bodden
"You are angry?"
Joyce Mc Nab - Mother
"Yes ma'am."
Monica Bodden
"You want justice?"
Joyce Mc Nab - Mother
"Yes ma'am."
Monica Bodden
"You think you could have lost her?"
Joyce Mc Nab - Mother
"I could have lost my daughter today. I didn't think that make any sense. None."
Elizabeth is listed in a stable condition at the KHMH. We spoke to her mother late this evening, who told us she didn't appreciate the police taking Tasha Lopez to the hospital - inside her daughter's ward. Martinez is the mother of a 7 year old boy.
