Twenty seven year old Gilroy Garnett, a former employer of Princess Hotel, pleaded guilty to burglarizing the bowling area of the hotel when he appeared yesterday in Magistrate's Court.

Because it was Garnett's first conviction, Magistrate Emmerson Banner did not give him a custodial sentence. Instead he fined Garnett two thousand dollars and gave him until March 31 to pay. If he defaults on payment he will serve 2 years. The burglary occurred between Saturday, February 5th and Sunday February 6th. Fifty four year old Tuna Aktbulut, the manager of Princess Hotel and Casino, reported that a cash register containing over four hundred dollars was stolen and he identified Garnett as the culprit on a video surveillance camera. The police report that when they detained Garnett yesterday, he admitted he committed the offence.

And in another burglary conviction….

If his finger prints were not lifted from some glass louvers, 29 year old Carlos Castro, a.k.a "Chinch", would have committed the perfect burglary between April 29 and April 30, 2010, when he broke into the house of Alexander Franzua in King's Park and stole several kitchen utensils.

It was Castro's fingerprints on the glass louvers which led to his conviction for burglary today in the Magistrate's Court. Although Castro had a previous conviction for burglary, he was not given a custodial sentence. He was fined two thousand dollars and given until March 31 to pay. If he defaults on payment he will serve 2 years. Bit although Castro was not given prison sentence he was not freed because he is a remand prisoner unable to meet bail for a pending charge of attempted burglary.

Evidence which come out at Catro's trial today showed that the culprit removed 4 glass louvers from a window to enter the lower flat of Franzua's house while Franzua and his family were asleep upstairs.

Castro testified and denied the fingerprints lifted from the glass louvers were his. But sergeant Osman Mortis, the fingerprint expert, testified that the fingerprints matched Castro's fingerprints.
