And before that meeting was held this afternoon, in the morning - there was another shooting which endangered the lives of small children - and ended up injuring two teenagers - one of them seriously.
At 9:30 this morning on Croton Lane in the Lake Independence area, 15 year old Samuel Logan and 17 year old Nirisie Mejia, were walking on Croton Lane when they were approached by a fair complexion male on bicycle, who fired several shots in their direction. Logan got the worse of it, he was shot to the left jaw, right side of the back and abdomen. Mejia was shot to both her legs. Both Logan and Mejia were transported to the K.H.M.H where they are admitted in serious, but stable condition.
The attack is believed to have been gang related, and they were shot near the home turf of the gang called P-I-V. According to reports, the pair were in a group of children who were going to a school assistance programme at the Civic.
And earlier on in the morning, there were reports that a shot was fired near a school, namely Gwen Lizarraga High. It seems that police were chasing a suspect, who scaled the school's fence facing the western highway and ran unto the compound. Best reports suggest police fired a warning shot as the male ran into the school yard, amongst students. He was eventually brought down by school security and handed over to police….
