Twenty six year old Ronald Rivers, charged with attempted murder and two other offences, were freed of the charges when they were withdrawn today in the Magistrate's Court on a directive from the DPP due to insufficient evidence. The other charges were dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm.
The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m on February 12, 2010. The complainant, 35 year old Michael Usher, a.k.a "Palmer",, reported to the police that he was walking on Antelope Street Extension going to visit his girlfriend, Brenda Tillett, when his assailant fired several shots at him.
