Thirty two year old Shamika Flowers Trapp, a mother of 7 who snatched a gold chain from around the neck of 50 year old Karen Froyce was fined $500.00 today in the Magistrate's Court after she pleaded guilty to a charge of theft. Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser who imposed the fine, gave Trapp until December 31 to pay. If she defaults on payment she will serve 5 months.
The incident occurred around 5:45p.m on April 30, 2010. Froyce reported to the police that she was walking on Lakeview Street on her way home from work when a woman she recognized as Shamika Flowers Trapp came from the opposite direction and rode past her on a bicycle. She said Trapp then turned around and as she rode past a second time she ripped her gold chain from around her neck. The chain, which has a value of $150.00 was not recovered.
