Last night we told you about 28 year-old Ellis Ortiz who was stabbed several times on Sunday. The man who is alleged to have been Ortiz's attacker has now been arraigned. Nathaniel Apolonio Thomas Jr., a 32 year-old-part time security guard residing on Antelope Street, appeared in Magistrate Robert Ordonez's court room today. He stands charged with attempted murder, dangerous harm, and use of deadly means of harm. Due to the nature of the offense, Thomas was remanded to Belize Central Prison until his next court date which is scheduled for March 6. As we reported last night, Ellis Ortiz was socializing with a 17 year-old female minor at a residence on Antelope Street. According to police, while Ortiz and the minor were speaking, Thomas allegedly approached them and stabbed him several times. Ortiz suffered a stab wound to the center of the abdomen, four to the left side of the back, and one to the right arm. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but doctors were able to successfully treat his wounds and stabilize him.
