Corporal Victor Lima, was shot in the line of duty while responding to a home invasion in Hattieville on Tuesday. He was shot twice in the chest, and tonight, he remains in the critical condition at the KHMH.

Well, the police department is monitoring Lima's fragile condition very closely, and today, Police Minister Saldivar visited him in the hospital.

Here's what he told us about Lima's condition, and about the Department's intention to support for the family.

"We were made to understand that you have intentions of taking a visit to the officer that was injured in the line of duty."

"Yes, as soon as you allow me I will be heading out that way and yes the police department will do all it can do assist the family. We are certainly proud of his valiant effort in carrying out his duties and we will stand by him."

"In the absence for insurance for police officers and their lives, in instances like these what is available to them through the department?"

"There is a police welfare fund under the control of the commissioner of police which he can use with my approval and we certainly intend to afford this officer as much as we can from through those funds and other funds available for this purpose."

"Can you as the Minister of Police give us any update to his conditions? Are you privy to any other information of recent developments in his health?"

"I understand they are looking for blood at this time. He is still in a critical state and I will get an update on that when I get to the KHMH."

And, the man who police believe shot Lima, 30 year-old Delford Slusher, a farmer and fisherman of Hattieville Village, was finally arraigned in relation to that incident today.

As we reported, he was arraigned yesterday on unlicensed ammunition, and then immediately escorted back to the CIB office. The reason he was not taken back yesterday afternoon is because was slapped with 6 other charges. Today, before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer he was arraigned on one count of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, and dangerous harm - all in relation Lima.

He was additionally charged with one count of aggravated burglary for entering the home 21 year-old Shakira Smith, and 2 counts of unlawful imprisonment upon Smith and a 17 year-old female minor, who he allegedly detained inside of the house.

Due to the nature of the offences, he couldn't be granted bail, and he was remanded to prison until August 28.
