As you heard, August says he believes that an electrical problem started the fire. Fire officials are still conducting their investigation but so far it seems that may be the case.
Orin Smith - Station Officer, National Fire Service
"Saturday, the 23rd of February, 2019, at 3:39 p.m., the Santa Elena/San Ignacio stations responded to a structural fire at #7 George Price Highway, Santa Elena Town in the Cayo District, somewhere near the Hawkesworth Bridge. On arrival on the scene, a concrete structure, with a wooden addition to its southern section was seen fully engulfed in flames. The fire department went into operation containing the fire and later extinguishing it. Investigation revealed that the fire originated in the 12 by 14 wooden addition to the structure. There was no one at home within that section of the structure at the time the fire occurred. Investigation is still ongoing, however leaning toward an electrical fire."
