And while the community laments the grave injury brought upon this child - police say they need more than just kind thoughts and abundant prayers. Today, the head of the Crimes Investigation Branch said they need witnesses to come forward so they can make an arrest:
ASP Alejandro Cowo - OC, CIB
"We are imploring the public; we know there were many person out there and saw what happened. All of us are claiming, crying, that an innocent child was injured, yet we are still asking for the public that those who are there to please come and assist us with this investigation; if we do really want to help this family solve this matter here. We know that the public are out there, we know that they saw what happened, so we are asking from them to come in and assist us in this investigation."

"People are scared."
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"We understand they are scared and they might be afraid that something might happen to them but we are speaking about an innocent child here that does not have to do anything with the problem that these two groups are going through at this moment. So I believe that if you are out there and you saw something, at least be kind enough to give us that information so that we can follow it up and try to solve this matter here."
Presently, no one is detained for the shooting. The adult victim - who was the presumed target - was treated and released two days ago.
